Dukes9543 store. This is a raer traverse table alidade made for special purposes. I woould suggest the usda soil and water conservation unit as that is where my father worked. A noted collector had this to say i would definitely call this a traverse table alidade. However all of thecatalogs i have show them ot be solid brass pieces about 12 long.
The brassones show in all fo the catalogs from 1900 on to 1936. This piece really looks like a 6 paragon scale with folding sights put onit.
It is quite possible that k&e made these special for some one. The scaletype and markings look exactly like paragon scales in the 1915 catalog. This is a paragon ^ ruler with the aperture added.
